While I’m sure you’ve all seen quite a few TED talks this year, this one I think is especially relevant and important. I first saw it my senior year of high school and every once in a while, I watch it again. As we start to talk about disability, I think it’s so important that we continue to frame the conversation in terms of what it means to be “dis”abled in a world where we actually have the potential to be “multi”abled. It’s not just about making room for a diversity of bodies, because it’s also about recognizing the benefits of embracing that diversity and creating cultural spaces where a range of abilities are recognized. This orchestra is a start.
